Govardhana Puja & Dipwali Festival on Sunday October 22

Govardhan Puja &

Dwali Festival

There was a record attendance for the Govardhan Puja & Diwali festival on Sunday October 22 2006 at the Hare Krishna temple.

The evening began with an arati to Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madana Mohan followed by the offering of lights to Lord Damodhar accompanied by the sweet Damordarastaka Prayers.

A superb drama about that great devotee Bilvangangala Thakur meeting Krishna had the audience spell bound. When Bhilvamangala asked Krishna to tell him a story, Krishna narrated the pastime of His lifting Govardhan Hill.

The young children next appeared colourfully dressed as Lord Rama, Laxman Sita all His other associates. Their grand procession around the temple room had parents volleying for strategic positioning in order to take pictures of the kiddies.

The grand finale was the circumambulating of Govardhan Hill. Lord Indra's Samvartaka Cloud of Destruction emanated loud claps of thunder with lighting and rain demonstrating its horrible wrath but then the sweet sounds of the holy named reverberated throughout the temple-room counteracting the influence's of Indra's wrath.

A sumptuous feast was freely served to an estimated 1,300 guests throughout the evening.
