Katha means "talk about".  Ramnavami is two words: Ram "Lord Ram" and "navami" means the 9th day of the moon.
In Vedic culture the lunar calendar is used so date varies from year to year when compared to the more common solar calendar.
So Ramnavami is when Lord Ram appeared. The 9th day of the moon March / April.
